Physicians Accepting More Medicare Patients

According to a Department of Health and Human Services report, the number of doctors accepting Medicare patients has grown. From 2007 to 2011 the number of new Medicare patients that physicians accepted grew by 1/3. Experts say that the number of accepted Medicare patients now exceeds the number of accepted private insurance patients. The principal deputy administrator for the Center for Medicare Services, Jonathan Blum said, “I think the report comes at a time when people are asking questions about Medicare; it provides a more complete picture of how physicians choose to participate in the Medicare system.” More here
