New Brain Scan Detects Pain Levels

Researchers have created a new device that is used to measure pain responses in the brain. The device is called Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging and takes real-time pictures of the brain to help researchers better understand our body’s response to pain. Tor Dessart Wager of the University of Colorado and lead researcher said, “we can make an accurate prediction about how much pain a person is feeling.” The device will be used as an essential tool to find pain levels in individuals who are unconscious or can not vocally express their pain levels.
