Number of Americans Over Age 90 Triples Since 1980

More and more Americans are living past the age of 90, according to recently released census figures. The number of Americans over the age of 90 has nearly tripled since 1980 and is expected to reach 8 million by 2050. People are living longer due to better nutrition and medical advances but the census data also found the rapidly increasing number of adults over the age of 90 are also more likely to have one or more disabilities and were much more likely to live in poverty than seniors between the ages of 65 and 89. A recent poll from the Associated Press found nearly half of seniors believe they’ll live to 90. More here and here.
