Red Onions Lower Risk Of Disease, Boost Memory

Phytonutrients are a component of plants, found in fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains, that have been shown to benefit human health and help ward off diseases such as diabetes and cancer. Onions are generally high in polyphenols, a type of phytonutrient, but red onions have an even higher level of the memory boosting, disease deterring compound, especially in its outer layers. When preparing red onions, try to use as much of the outer layers as possible and buy onions with dry skins and a round shape. Onions should be stored away from heat and bright light. More here.
