5 Percent Of Over-70 Population Develops Memory Loss Each Year

According to a recent study from the Mayo Clinic, up to five percent of people over 70 develop mild cognitive impairment each year. For individuals over the age of 80, the number rises to seven percent. The study followed 2,000 healthy people over the 70 and found a higher number than previously estimated had memory problems, slower thinking, and a reduced ability to learn. Dr. Ronald Petersen, the neurologist who led the study, said the rates they found were considerable higher than they had anticipated. More here.
